Manang lies at about 3,540 metres on the dry, northern side of the Annapurna range, on the famous Annapurna Circuit. A rough jeep road now climbs the Marsyangdi valley from Besisahar, so you can reach this high mountain world without a long trek.
The drive passes waterfalls, pine forest and the villages of Chame and Pisang, with Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal above. In Manang you have a full day to explore Gangapurna glacier lake, Braga monastery and the old stone villages before driving back to Pokhara.
Drive to Besisahar and continue by jeep up the Marsyangdi valley past Jagat, Tal and Dharapani to Chame, the district headquarters of Manang.
