The days our planner makes, with real times and driving minutes.
How many days do you need in Pokhara? Three days let you see the sunrise from Sarangkot, the Peace Pagoda and Davis Falls in the south, and the quiet lakes of Begnas and Rupa. With one day, do the sunrise, the south and a boat on Phewa; with four or five, add a night in the mountains at Australian Camp. Questions people ask
How many days do you need in Pokhara?
Three days are enough to see the main sights without rushing: one day north (Sarangkot sunrise, the caves, the old town), one day south (Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Cave, the Peace Pagoda) and one day at the eastern lakes. Add two days for a short trek such as Australian Camp, or a week for Poon Hill or Mardi Himal.
What is the best one-day itinerary for Pokhara?
Start with the sunrise at Sarangkot, back to the hotel for breakfast, then Gupteshwor Cave and Davis Falls (a 3-minute walk apart), the Tibetan settlement, the World Peace Pagoda after lunch, and a boat to Tal Barahi temple in the late afternoon. See the 1-day plan.
Can we see the sunrise and the Peace Pagoda on the same day?
Yes. The sunrise is over by about 8 in the morning; the Peace Pagoda fits in the early afternoon, and the light over the lake is lovely then.
Do we need a car in Pokhara?
For Sarangkot, the south and the lakes, yes: the sights are spread across the valley. Lakeside and Phewa Lake are easy on foot. A car with a driver costs from NPR 3,600 for a half day.
What is the best time of year for these plans?
October and November have the clearest mountain views, March and April the rhododendrons. See the best time to visit Pokhara.
