Pokhara is more than a base for treks. In one relaxed day with a private vehicle and a local guide you can see the lake, the temples, the caves and the gorges that make the city special, without working out taxis, tickets or opening hours.
The day starts on the water with a short boat ride to Tal Barahi temple on its island in Phewa Lake. Then you visit Davis Falls, where the lake’s outflow disappears underground, and Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave across the road, followed by the International Mountain Museum.
In the afternoon you look into the deep, narrow Seti River gorge, walk the old bazaar and Bindhyabasini temple, and end in the caves north of the city before returning to Lakeside.
Times are a guide; your driver and guide adjust them to the light, the weather and your pace.
