Pokhara for couples: romantic things to do and a honeymoon plan

Sunset boats, sunrise hills and a night in the mountains, for two.

Sunset for Two NPR 10,000Sunrise at SarangkotA night in the mountains

Pokhara is a classic honeymoon choice in Nepal: a lake with mountains in it, sunrises from the hills and quiet places within an hour’s drive. For two people, our favourite moments are a private boat at golden hour followed by dinner (our Sunset on Phewa for Two, NPR 10,000 per couple), the sunrise from Sarangkot, a slow day at Begnas Lake and one night at Australian Camp, where you wake up facing Machhapuchhre.

Where to stay as a couple

Lakeside has everything from small guesthouses to lake-view resorts; ask for a room facing the lake and the mountains. North Lakeside and Khapaudi are quieter, Begnas has a few peaceful lakeside resorts, and there are lodges on Sarangkot and at Dhampus for a night closer to the peaks. Tell us your budget and we suggest and book hotels for you (hotel arrangements).

The best time for a honeymoon in Pokhara

October and November have the clearest mountains and warm days. December to February is clear and quiet, with cold mornings and cosy evenings. March and April bring rhododendrons on the hills, with hazier views. In the monsoon, June to September, Pokhara is green, quiet and cheaper, but the mountains hide in cloud most days. See the weather month by month.

What a Pokhara honeymoon costs
